HALIFAX COUNTY SETS DATE FOR 2023 HARVEST DAYS

OCTOBER 20-21, 2023

Halifax County government and N.C. Cooperative Extension, Halifax County Center have set the date for the 2023 Harvest Days festival. The County is excited to announce that this year’s Harvest Days will be held at the 4-H Rural Life Center on Friday, October 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., specifically for 4th and 5th grade students in any of our Halifax County public, charter, private or home schools, and Saturday, October 21,
opening for the public at 10 a.m.

“This year we are celebrating the 100th Anniversary of our 4-H Rural Life Center building, which was originally constructed as the Halifax County Home and completed in August 1923,” said Beth Burchell, Halifax County Extension Director. “While the history of this building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, is significant, we are even more excited about the future of this building, which is currently undergoing significant renovations, as well as the other important structures and these grounds for recreational and educational purposes and to further the mission of 4-H!”

As always the Halifax County Harvest Days event will celebrate the wonderful world of agriculture, featuring farm animals, antique tractors, hay wagon rides, the agricultural museum, and educational exhibits, as well as local vendors selling delicious festival food and arts & crafts. There will be entertainment throughout the day on Saturday, including our headliner The Feature Attraction Band who will perform from Noon – 2 p.m.

Food and arts & crafts vendors are now being accepted with a reasonable vendor fee. Be certain to sign up early to secure your spot. Download your vendor application below or contact Halifax County Cooperative Extension at 252-583-5161 for an application or other event information. The 4-H Rural Life Center is located at 13763 Highway 903 in Halifax.
